About Me

You want to know about me, you say? An odd request, but I’ll allow it. Well, you’ve come to the right place…

It all began back in North Carolina where I grew up in the traditional Tar Heel fashion, immersed in a world of barbecue and college basketball. A combination of nature and nurture, along with the wonderful sci-fi trappings and optimistic futurism of the 1980s, made me an enthusiastic nerd from a very early age. Around the age of five I became a theme park obsessive as well, and began hoarding magazines and ephemera; things only snowballed from there.

My early career found me in the field of academia, assisting in developmental psychology research and helping draft technical documents such as grant applications. But on the side I kept writing about the entertainment industry, theme parks, and their history, until the point when I decided that my hobby needed to become my full-time gig. Thankfully, by then my work had caught the eyes of some very kind and very generous people who were able and willing to help me out and give me a shot.

Before long I was writing historical pieces for D23, the official Disney fan club, as well as for the Walt Disney Family Foundation. I also helped D23 with some of their historically-oriented events, doing background research and presenting obscure tidbits of Disney lore to fans.

My next step was into the field of themed entertainment, when designer Eddie Sotto recruited me to work with SottoStudios on a major writing project for a private client. In the years since I’ve been working under contract as a freelance writer for Walt Disney Imagineering on a number of projects which you can find in this portfolio. It’s been the thrill of a lifetime.

In my spare time I enjoy indulging all of my random unrelated interests, from history to travel to music to classic film to games and on and on… oh, and buying more books than I’ll ever have time to read. If you think my diverse interests might be a good match for your writing or creative needs, get in touch! I’d love to hear from you.

Thanks for visiting.
